Music Director Opening

Quodlibet is conducting a search for a new music director to begin as early as January 2026. Please contact us at quodlibetabq@gmail.com to inquire about the position.

 

Duties:

  1. Adjudicating auditions and setting admission, rehearsal and performance standards for all other performing members;

  2. Selecting and sequencing music for rehearsals and performances with the input of the members, as may be offered or requested;

  3. Determining performance schedules considering the recommendations of the board, the performing membership, or other committee;

  4. Evaluating performance opportunities;

  5. Setting the rehearsal schedule;

  6. Selecting assistant or substitute conductors as necessary;

  7. Arranging for additional, non-member performers as necessary, with the potential assistance of performing members recommendations;

  8. Making artistic decisions by guiding the performers in the expression of the music;

  9. Determining performers to be assigned to small group and solo performances, and setting the balance of the vocal parts and choir formations;

  10. Ordering new music;

  11. Managing the reservation of performance space;

  12. Facilitating the performance review after each performance.

 

            Expectations:

  1. Members are accustomed to rehearsing on Sundays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at X Factor Church, 3023 Montclaire Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110

  2. Quodlibet performs two concerts per year, one in the fall and one in the spring.

  3. Approximately 13 Sunday rehearsals are scheduled per concert.

  4. You would need to bring a keyboard or instrument for facilitating the learning of parts and giving starting pitches or make some arrangements for this.

  3. The Board may invite you to lead part of a rehearsal.

  4. The Board may select one or more interim musical directors to cover rehearsals starting in January through the Spring concert.

  5. A selection will be made during the annual meeting, summer 2026, if not before.


Offer:

  1. Stipend ranging from $1,000 - $3,000 annually, depending on experience

  2. Ex-officio 501(c)(3) board membership
